JFCS’ Annual Give Campaign nearing goal and needs your support

By Dana Rubin • Development Director

On behalf of over 13,000 clients, our staff, and the community, THANK YOU for continuing to support JFCS. We raise funds because there is an ongoing need in our community for a place to turn, a helpful hand, an advocate, a friend – JFCS fulfills that need. The end of 2021 has been very exciting. We hosted our second virtual Annual Benefit, raising over $520,000 in total to support JFCS general operations, as well as services that provide mental health support through the event’s Fund-A-Need. Our Annual Give Campaign is nearing our goal of $950,000 and we need your help to get there.

With programs and services available to all, from young to old, we are proud of the work we do, providing assistance with compassion and care. Your contributions continue to make a difference in so many ways, every single day. We are delivering food; providing rides; mental health and career services are being accessed; volunteers are engaged and making meaningful contributions; and we are responding to urgent and unmet needs.

We recognize the importance of your generosity. We are grateful that we can count on you and this community to support JFCS and look forward to sharing stories and successes with you in 2022. If you have not yet made your Give Campaign (Annual Campaign) gift, there are a variety of ways you can do this. In addition, you can take advantage of a $32,500 matching gift provided by Merle and Mort Kane and Cindi and Harold Goldfine for all new or increased annual campaign gifts.

4. Gift IRA Minimum Distribution
You must take your first required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year in which you turn age 72 by December 31 of that year. Although RMDs don’t start until 72, you can still make a qualified charitable distribution (QDC) if you are 70.5 years or older. You may donate up to $100,000 of your QCD tax-free directly to one or more nonprofits. The QCD counts towards your annual RMD. The QCD must be gifted directly to a charity & cannot be added to a DAF or private foundation.

*Please note that the JFCS offices will be closed Friday, Dec. 31, in honor of New Year’s Day. If you mail in a check dated Dec. 31 or make a gift online prior to or on Dec. 31, it will qualify for 2021. If you intend to call and make a gift on a credit card or mail in a gift wanting to pay with a credit card, it must reach JFCS prior to Dec. 31.

Thank you for supporting JFCS!
