Each year, nearly 900 JFCS volunteers provide services to those in need in both the Jewish and general communities. JFCS provides short and long-term, flexible, volunteer opportunities in a variety of programs. Each month an email newsletter, Mitzvah Madness, is sent to over 700 people listing current volunteer opportunities.

Hag Sameach means "happy holidays" in Hebrew. To ensure a joyous Chanukah and Passover celebration, JFCS provides gifts and holiday ritual items to families and individuals in need.

For Chanukah, volunteers collect, sort, wrap and deliver gifts to give to families. Last year nearly 900 families were served.

For Passover, Hag Sameach gift bags are filled with Passover food and ritual items necessary to celebrate our traditions. The bags are then delivered to families in need.

JFCS Annual Benefit

Phone: 952-542-4814

For nearly two decades, JFCS has held an Annual Benefit to raise funds in support of the quality programs and services provided by JFCS. The event, held each year in early December, is also a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community, socialize and have fun. Past entertainers include nationally-known comedians Kevin Nealon, Al Franken, Elaine Boosler, Joy Behar, Martin Short, and Howie Mandel. The Annual Benefit featured a video highlighting our transportation program, a raffle and an online auction. The 19th Annual Benefit was held December 8, 2007 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

Endowment Funds

List of Funds: Click here

An investment in a JFCS endowment fund gives donors the joy of knowing their legacy will enhance the lives and nurture the spirit of the community for generations to come. Endowment funds are a timeless way to honor a loved one, celebrate a milestone event, or support a program that is meaningful in your life. Donations may be designated to a particular program or be available for use where most needed.

With a minimum gift of $2,500, a named endowment fund can be established at JFCS. Gifts of cash or securities, a life insurance policy or a portion of money held in a retirement plan may also be used to begin a fund. Establishing an endowment fund may meet one's estate planning needs. For more information, contact Development Director, Robin Doroshow at rdoroshow@jfcsmpls.org or 952-542-4865.

JFCS Mitzvah Cards

JFCS Mitzvah (Hebrew for good deed) Cards allow you to make contributions in any amount to various funds that have been established to serve JFCS clients and programs.

Mitzvah contributions are a meaningful way to honor friends, families, colleagues and neighbors for special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and other celebrations. Mitzvah Cards may also be used to honor a loved one’s memory.

When you donate using a Mitzvah Card you can choose to have your donation go towards an established fund or let your gift be used where most needed. A card is then sent to the person you are honoring. Each Mitzvah Card includes a short description of the fund that was chosen as well as the donor’s name and address.

To receive a packets of 10 donation envelopes, email Gloria Murman at gmurman@jfcsmpls.org or call her at 952-542-4874. Donations may also be made online. To make an online donation with your Visa or Mastercard, please click here. For a list of JFCS funds, click here.
