JFCS Mitzvah Tribute Cards

JFCS Mitzvah (Hebrew for good deed) Cards allow you to make contributions in any amount to various funds established to support client programs and services.

Mitzvah contributions are a meaningful way to honor friends, families, colleagues and neighbors for special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and other celebrations. Mitzvah Cards may also be used to wish a speedy recovery or honor a loved one’s memory.

When you donate using a Mitzvah Card you can choose to have your donation go towards a named or program fund or be used where most needed. A card is then sent to the person you are honoring. Each Mitzvah Card includes a short description of the fund that was chosen as well as the donor’s name and address. For a list of funds, click here.

Donations may be made online with your Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover or Diner's Card by clicking here. If you prefer to send your donation by mail, contact Gloria Murman at 952-542-4874 to request a packet of 10 donation envelopes.

JFCS 2010 Annual Membership Campaign

In 2009, Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Minneapolis addressed the growing needs of our community by providing services and support to over 15,000 individuals, a number that continues to grow in these difficult economic times. We provided financial assistance to those in need and career counseling for those struggling to find work. At-risk children were matched with caring mentors, and older adults were helped to maintain their independence. For people with developmental disabilities or facing mental health issues, we offered ongoing support to meet the challenges of daily living. These are just a few examples of how JFCS extends help and hope to the community and no one is turned away for inability to pay.

Please consider becoming a member of JFCS this year. Your support means so much to so many and is needed now more than ever.

JFCS Annual Benefit

For over two decades, JFCS has held an Annual Benefit to raise funds in support of the quality programs and services provided by JFCS. The event, held each year in early December, is also a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community, socialize and have fun. Past entertainers include nationally-known comedians Orny Adams, Kevin Nealon, Al Franken, Elaine Boosler, Joy Behar, Martin Short, Howie Mandel and John Pinette.

The Annual Benefit features a raffle and an online auction preceding the event. A video highlighting JFCS programs will be presented the evening of the Benefit.

For more information, contact Amy Litman at 952-542-4814.

Hag Sameach / Happy Holidays

In Hebrew Hag Sameach means "Happy Holidays". To ensure a joyous Chanukah celebration, JFCS provides gifts and holiday ritual items to families and individuals in need. Volunteers collect, sort, wrap and deliver gifts to these families. Last year 1,000 individuals were served.

For more information, please contact Joanne Savitt at jsavitt@jfcsmpls.org or 952-542-4870.

Passover Adopt-a-Family

Adopt-a-Family for Passover is a wonderful mitzvah opportunity through the Hag Sameach (Happy Holidays) program of Jewish Family and Children's Service of Minneapolis. Referred individuals and families in need will receive a gift bag of ritual Passover foods and other items to help celebrate the holiday. For an $18/Chai donation to JFCS you can adopt a family and help cover the cost of one gift bag. Often, this is a family's only opportunity to obtain the items they need to celebrate the traditions of Passover.

For more information, please contact Joanne Savitt at jsavitt@jfcsmpls.org or 952-542-4870.

Establishing an Endowment Fund

An investment in a JFCS endowment fund gives donors the joy of knowing their legacy will enhance lives and nurture the spirit of the community for generations to come. Endowment funds are a timeless way to honor a loved one, celebrate a milestone event, or support a program that is meaningful in your life. Donations may be designated to a particular program or be available for use where most needed.

With a minimum gift of $2,500, a named endowment fund can be established at JFCS. Gifts of cash or securities, a life insurance policy or a portion of money held in a retirement plan may also be used to begin a fund. Establishing an endowment fund may meet one's estate planning needs.
