Advocate Training   

Mondays, January 23 and 30 and February 6 and 13
6-8:30 p.m. at JFCS ( 13100 Wayzata Blvd, Minnetonka 55305) 

Help a victim of partner abuse heal and move forward by becoming a Beyond Safety volunteer advocate. You will provide one-on-one support to women who have experienced partner abuse and are working to establish self-sufficiency and regain their life goals.

Volunteer advocates... 

* Connect the participant to resources

* Work with staff to support career growth and emotional health  

* Instill confidence and knowledge  

* Attend monthly meetings to learn with other advocates and staff

Beyond Safety is a free employment service for those who have experienced abuse and violence. The program is open to people of all backgrounds. It is a Jewish Domestic Abuse Collaborative (JDAC) initiative, which is a program of Jewish Family and Children's Service of Minneapolis, and Jewish Family Service of St. Paul.

Legal Services at Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Minneapolis

Clinics and classes are provided by Tubman Family Alliance in collaboration with JFCS of Minneapolis.

Family Law Clinic
The Family Law Clinic offers participants a chance to meet with a volunteer attorney for 30 minutes to discuss her/his family law issue. Volunteer attorneys explain legal rights and options, review documents, and provide legal advice. Volunteer attorneys do not sign or draft documents, provide on-going legal representation, or make court appearances for Law Clinic clients. Issues for Family Law Clinic are:

  • Divorce Parenting plans (custody and parenting time)
  • Employment 
  • Child support
  • Domestic abuse
  • Paternity
  • Post-divorce matters
  • Property disputes
