KEYNOTE Meg Hutchinson

AWARD-WINNING SINGER/SONGWRITER

2010 BEST LYRICS, THE LIVING SIDE

MEG HUTCHINSON is an award-winning singer/songwriter based in the Boston area, whose talent has transformed her from a regional New England songwriter to an internationally touring recording artist.

When she was 19, Meg experienced the first of many depressions but did not seek treatment. After years of quiet but incapacitating struggles, including hospitalizations, she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She has decided to speak out to help others who may share her experiences, and to raise awareness that sometimes people who hide their struggles best are the most at risk of suicide.

As part of the conference keynote, she will perform selections from her latest album, The Living Side, produced by legendary folk label Red House Records in St. Paul.

The Living Side won the 2010 Indie Acoustic Project Best Lyrics award. Meg’s other awards in the U.S., Ireland and U.K. include recognition from the John Lennon Songwriting Competition, Billboard Song Contest, and prestigious competitions at folk festivals.
